Have you ever wondered what regular mass produced candles are made from?
Paraffin is a by-product of the petrochemical industry it is the slimy residue in the bottom of an oil barrel, which is then mixed with a chemical called Acrolein which gives it its texture.
Acrolein is used in making plastics, perfumes and poison gas mixtures designed for the military. Paraffin has also been known to release harmful carcinogens:
Tolulene - a chemical with solvent properties it is used to dissolve paints, silicon,Rubber, Printing ink, lacquers,adhesives and has also been used as a cement for polystyrene.
Benzine - a chemical that is used as an industrial solvent used in the degreasing of Metal,used to increase the octane level in fuel, used to make polymers, plastics,adhesives, rubber, lubricants,dyes, drugs,explosives, napalm and pesticides.
And thats just TWO of the chemicals that are emited when burning paraffin wax!
Another hazard of burning paraffin candles is the lead threading in the wick of most of these mass produced candles.
